Tax Manager

Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and highly analytical Tax Manager to lead the tax strategy and compliance efforts for a Mexican-Canadian automotive joint venture with multi-plant operations across Mexico. This role will be responsible for overseeing national and international tax compliance, optimizing the import-export tax structure, and ensuring adherence to local and international fiscal regulations.

The ideal candidate will act as a key business partner to finance, operations, and supply chain leadership, and will manage relationships with SAT, customs brokers, and external advisors.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and oversee tax compliance processes including ISR, IVA, IEPS, and state taxes across all 5 manufacturing sites.
  • Manage foreign trade and import-export tax matters, including IMMEX, PROSEC, and certified company programs.
  • Ensure full compliance with Mexican tax laws, Canada-Mexico bilateral agreements, and OECD transfer pricing guidelines.
  • Coordinate and oversee the preparation and timely filing of monthly, quarterly, and annual tax returns.
  • Identify opportunities for tax optimization and lead implementation of best practices.
  • Collaborate with customs brokers and trade compliance teams to support smooth and compliant cross-border operations.
  • Support audits and manage relationships with tax authorities (SAT) and external consultants.
  • Prepare tax impact analyses for new investments, plant expansions, or changes in supply chain configuration.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge on changes in tax legislation and recommend corresponding adjustments to internal policies.
  • Ensure accurate and timely tax accounting and reporting for internal and external stakeholders, including Canadian parent company requirements.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Public Accountant preferred).
  • Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in tax management, ideally in multinational manufacturing companies.
  • Proven experience managing import/export tax matters, including IMMEX and customs procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of Mexican tax law, cross-border transactions, and transfer pricing.
  • Familiarity with automotive industry supply chains and compliance frameworks is highly desirable.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills; ability to influence across functions and levels.
  • Fluent in Spanish and English (written and spoken).

Preferred Certifications:
CPA, CFFIM (Certificación Fiscal y Financiera en Materia de Comercio Exterior), or equivalent.
