Operations Director (Sheet Metal Mfg)

SUMMARY
Reporting to the Vice President/General Manager, the Director of Manufacturing Operations is responsible for manufacturing, production planning, and supply chain activities for 5 manufacturing locations in US and Mexico.  You will ensure that all products are manufactured to the highest quality standards while optimizing operational efficiency, capacity, and cost-effectiveness.  This role requires a strategic operational leader with proven manufacturing expertise to drive excellence, foster continuous improvement, and support the company’s growth objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 
  • Develop and execute comprehensive manufacturing strategies aligned with business objectives and market demands
  • Lead, mentor, and develop manufacturing site leaders and teams, fostering a productive, inclusive, and high-performing work environment
  • Create, manage, and control operational budgets, monitor expenditures, and drive initiatives to reduce costs and maximize profitability
  • Drive operational excellence initiatives including Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma to optimize yield, reduce waste, and lower costs.
  • Bring extensive experience in a high-mix manufacturing environment with a proven track record in production readiness and clear-to-build planning with a strong record in OTD.
  • Ensure optimal plant layouts, equipment utilization, and workforce efficiency
  • Translate data into strategic decisions and resource planning
  • Oversee process audits, corrective action plans, and compliance efforts internally and with strategic supply partners
  • Enhance quality standards establishing clear expectations and KPIs with a continuous improvement mindset across site leadership and their teams
  • Data driven approach in assessing manufacturing flow and establishing new approaches driving efficiency, capacity, and repeatability across all sites
  • Strong pulse on manufacturing techniques and technologies (in and outside our industry) elevating overall operations to best-in-class status
 
Qualifications 
  • Minimum 15-years manufacturing experience with 5+ years leading multiple operations
  • Experience in managing, training, and mentoring plant leadership
  • Proven ability to lead through change and influence cross-functional teams
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills
  • Demonstrated problem solving, root cause analytical skills, and establishing lean processes
